Ngwe Saung, named by the name of village near the beach, is located in Ayeyarwaddy Division, Pathein Distric. It is long more than 11 miles. Most of the native people are Rakhine Race. Water is transperatly clear and it can see clearly until the floor of sea at the depth of 10-15ft. It is on the western coast of Myanmar on the Bay of Bengal, west of Yangon and a bit south of Ngapali Beach. It has become popular with tourists in just the last one or two decades and the quality of the beach, sand and water is comparable to Ngapali Beach. More hotels are blooming and some are under construction. In past, the beach could be reached only by car (about 5-6 hours drive) from Yangon, or by a tourist ferry that would make an overnight trip (but sometimes the boat would not run if they did not have enough bookings). Now, the new domestic air carrier Air Bagan, has started flying to Pathein on a regular basis.
It is about a 25 minute flight to the city of Pathein and from there a one hour transfer by car to the beach. Like Ngapali Beach, the beauty of the beach is unspoiled and visitors can enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
Chaung Tha Beach is located just 6 hours drive from Yangon and 40 km from the west of Pathein (Bassein) in Ayeyarwaddy Division. It is an attractive wide beach with silver sand and clear water. Not only coconut palms but also casuarinas trees can be found at the back of the beach. Two small islands can be seen offshore. The crab dish of Chaung-Tha Beach is also delicious and well-known. Fresh coconut juice will make relaxed the travellers. An alternative route is an overnight steamer trip from Yangon, along Twante canal up to Pathein and then a one and a half hour drive by coach to Chaung Thar Beach. This beach is also very popular and famous beach in Myanmar. The highway to Chaung Thar is through the mountain ranges, going up and down. But as soon as you arrive to the plain, then you will be very pleased with the sea view. Chaung Tha Beach is the third popular beach in Myanmar and most visit here on weekends and holidays.
Ngapali Beach is located 7 kilometres (4 miles) from the town of Thandwe (Sandoway). It is the most famous beach in Myanmar and is a popular tourist destination. Myanmar's political climate means that Ngapali is not as well publicized as other good beaches of Southeast Asia. The name "Ngapali", has no meaning in Burmese, but comes from the Italian "Napoli" (the city of Naples). The beach that offers you clear and blue water all the year round, smooth wave and white sand will make you want to stay from dawn to dark. Sunsets of Ngapali are really beyond description. Ngapali Beach has been promoted as one of the major tourist destinations in Myanmar.
